Terms of use

Tres Palabras Ltd · Registered in England & Wales, company no. 17356000 · 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, W1W 5PF · ICO registration ZC205860 · hola@trespalabras.app
Effective date: 16 August 2026

These terms apply to the Tres Palabras mobile app, trespalabras.app, the Tres Palabras newsletter and our downloadable workbooks — together, "the service".

1. Who we are

Tres Palabras is operated by Tres Palabras Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17356000, registered office 167-169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London, W1W 5PF ("we", "us"). You can contact us at hola@trespalabras.app.

These terms are an agreement between you and us. By creating an account, subscribing, or using the service, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.

2. What the service is

Tres Palabras teaches Spanish vocabulary to adults: three words a day, with short videos, audio, phrases and spaced-repetition review. The app is the paid part of the service. The newsletter and monthly workbooks are free.

We work hard to keep the content accurate and genuinely useful, but the service is a learning aid — we cannot promise a particular level of Spanish by a particular date. That part is between you and your three words a day.

3. Your account

You need an account to save your progress and to subscribe. You agree to give us accurate information, to keep your sign-in details safe, and not to share your account. Tres Palabras is designed for adults, and you must be at least 18 to create an account.

You can delete your account at any time — in the app, or via trespalabras.app/delete-account. Deleting your account removes your data as described in the privacy policy. Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription — subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google and must be cancelled in your App Store or Google Play settings (see section 5).

4. Subscriptions and pricing

The app offers auto-renewing subscriptions, purchased through Apple's App Store or Google Play:

Prices are shown in your local currency in the app store at the point of purchase; the price displayed there at the time you subscribe is the price that applies. Prices include VAT where applicable. If we change prices in future, the change will apply from your next renewal and you will be notified in advance in accordance with Apple's or Google's rules — and founder-rate subscribers keep their rate as described above.

Free trial. All plans include a 14-day free trial. When the 14 days end, your subscription begins and your app store account is charged the price of the plan you chose, automatically, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Cancelling during the trial costs nothing. A free trial is available once per person — if you have already used a trial on any Tres Palabras plan, further trials are not offered, and whether a trial applies to you is shown before you confirm the purchase.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically — annual plans every 12 months, monthly plans every month — unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your app store account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.

5. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time in your device's subscription settings (App Store: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Google Play: Play Store → profile → Payments and subscriptions). Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We cannot cancel a subscription for you — billing sits with Apple or Google.

Refunds for purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies, and requests should be made to them. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including any rights you have under UK consumer law in relation to digital content.

6. Free content — newsletter and workbooks

The newsletter and workbooks are free, for your personal use. You are welcome to share the sign-up link; please do not republish, resell or redistribute the content itself. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.

7. Our content and your licence

Everything in the service — the wordbank, phrases, videos, audio recordings, workbooks, design and text — belongs to us or our licensors. While you use the service, we give you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial licence to use it for learning Spanish. You agree not to copy, scrape, extract, republish or resell the content, and not to use it to build or train a competing product or dataset.

If you download the app from Apple's App Store, your licence to the app itself is also governed by Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA); these terms govern the service and your subscription. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for the service.

8. Fair use

Please use the service as a person learning Spanish, not as a robot harvesting one: no automated access, no attempting to bypass the subscription, no reverse engineering except where the law expressly permits it, and nothing unlawful. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, acting reasonably.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the service available and improving, and new content is added on a calendar rhythm. Occasionally things break, maintenance happens, or a feature changes or is withdrawn — we will always act reasonably, and if we ever discontinued the paid service entirely we would tell subscribers in advance. We may update these terms; if a change is material we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and the current version will always live at trespalabras.app/terms.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that: we are not liable for losses that are not a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms, for business losses (the service is for personal use), or for events genuinely outside our control. Our total liability to you in connection with the service is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes can be brought in its courts. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections and the courts of the place you live.
